Calder Memorial Trophy

The Calder Memorial Trophy has been awarded to the NHL’s best rookie since the 1936-37 season. Syl Apps of the Maple Leafs was the first player to win the Calder Trophy.

Over the years, many all-time greats won rookie of the year honors, such as Terry Sawchuk, Dave Keon, Ken Dryden, Ray Bourque, Mario Lemieux, Ed Belfour, Pavel Bure, and Teemu Selanne.

This year, Lane Hutson of the Canadiens won the Calder Trophy. The 21-year-old defenseman from Michigan led all rookies in scoring with 60 assists and 66 points.

President’s Choice Trading Cards is excited to announce its latest series of hockey cards, called “Calder Memorial Trophy,” which honors the NHL’s best first-year players, past and present. Each card features one or more pieces of game-worn memorabilia and is serial numbered.
